What’s Better for Gaming: A PC or Laptop?

What's Better for Gaming

Normally for gamers, the PC was a perfect choice but now gaming laptops are also gaining a lot of popularity. It’s a not surprising fact that portables are now viable gaming platforms. They’re slimmer, lighter, and more powerful than ever before – they’ve never been better for on-the-go gaming. However, there are still advantages and disadvantages to using a gaming laptop, just as there are advantages and disadvantages to using a traditional PC.

So, what are the benefits of having gaming desktops or a laptop?

Powerhouse:

There is no doubt in the fact that PCs are the traditional powerhouses. They give you the ultimate gaming performance. The performance of the graphics cards is a lot better on PCs than in laptops.

Cooling systems:

PCs have better cooling systems as compared to laptops. So, the speed of tasks is better on PCs. Proper desktops have more thermal headroom, manufacturers can install overclocked graphics cards, which provide an even bigger boost. Of course, better thermal conditions necessitate the use of graphics cards that are not available in laptops, such as the high-end Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and Titan RTX.

However, graphics cards aren’t the only place where a PC can be more powerful. Because of improved thermal conditions, desktop processors have faster speeds and more cores than laptop counterparts, and memory is often faster in PCs. All these potent components contribute to improved performance in games and applications. This means you’ll be able to deal with a wider variety of situations.

Versatility:

When it comes to versatility, laptops don’t even come close to PC. You can build your PC with the preferred choice of components. You can choose designs and factors of your own choice.

Cost:

There is a lot of difference between the prices of PCs and Laptops. Laptops are very expensive mainly because they are portable. There are some cheap gaming laptops as well, but they are expensive when compared to PCs. Since PC manufacturers do not have to factor in the cost of cramming everything into a tiny chassis – and they also do not have to include screens, mice, and keyboards.

Compromises:

PCs are good but there are several compromises on the way. They are a lot heavier than laptops. PCs are usually louder than laptops. Then there’s the issue of peripherals. Your PC may be less expensive than a laptop, but you will still need to pay for a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. That will cost more, and it may require additional research that you do not want to do.

Bottom line:

Desktop PCs and laptops both have pros and cons. One gadget can not win all the time. You exactly need to know what you want and then make a decision accordingly. If you only looking for performance, then go for a PC. If you are looking for average performance but with comfort and portability, then choose Laptop. There are gaming laptops and desktops both. For heavy gaming, Desktops are preferred.

So, your set of requirements decides what is best between a PC and a laptop.
